Looks like the global players are still reeling from the market crash to pay attention to other foreign policy issues.
I represented the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Erdogan, in the global meeting simulation. Myself, the Chinese, and the Russian representatives declared our positions on the Arab-Israeli issue as well as our thoughts on a future agreement.
Turkey is in a percarious position regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict. Turkey has declared itself a strong ally of Israel, yet remains strongly split. Public opinion strongly favors the Palestinian cause and Erdogan himself has publically criticized the actions of the Israel government, calling for an end to the 'massacre'. Turkey has also bought arms and traded information with Israel, and remains a strong economic partner.
Erdogan supports a two state solution in which an independent Palestine can prosper without fear of Israeli repercussion. Due to his strong urging for Turkey to be accepted into the European Union, it is likely that he would want Turkey to have an active role in the negeotiations, as a way of proving Turkey's allegiance to the West and the peace process. Turkey has a history of moderating Syrian-Israeli relations, and can use it's relation as a previous moderator to bolster it's position in peace talks.

I believe that peace can not be achieved through putting up walls, but by sitting down at the same table and talking and negotiating.
My stance is that for mutual peace, there needs to be a secure state of Israel alongside of a modern, democratic, and viable Palestinian nation, sharing one common capitol, Jerusalem, so that those of all religions can safely and peacefully visit the Holy City.
-Nicolas Sarkozy, French President
